Navel Expo

I am very excited to announce that I will be presenting two lectures at the upcoming NAVEL Expo which is happening on Saturday and Sunday, October 29th and 30th respectively. The Navel Expo is Long Island’s largest alternative health expo with over 60 venders and 30 speakers and is attended by about 1500 people!  The expo which will be held at the Huntington Hilton Hotel, 598 Broad Hollow Rd, Melville, runs from 9am to 6pm on Saturday and 9am to 8pm on Sunday. My lectures on the critical importance of Liver Detoxification, Cleanse Your Body of Toxins will be happening at 1:40pm on Saturday and 12 pm respectively in main ballroom B. My second lecture on Adrenal Fatigue, Is It Making You Tired, Stressed Out and Overweight? will take place on Sunday at 5pm in main ballroom B.
My first lecture will focus on the important role of the liver and the need to detoxify it and our bodies on a regular basis. Many people suffer from poor functioning detoxification pathways which make them tired, suffer from headaches, body aches, bloating and have low immune function.
These symptoms and many others can be alleviated by engaging in a medical food detoxification program that provides maximum nutrition to support your own natural detoxification pathways.
In my second lecture, I will be presenting information about a hidden epidemic that is happening to millions of people all across America. What I am speaking about is Adrenal Fatigue (or Adrenal Exhaustion). So many of us are experiencing these symptoms:
-being constantly tired
-weight gain
-sleep disturbances
-increased anxiety
-mental fogginess
-low sex drive
These and other symptoms may well be indications of adrenal fatigue. This condition goes unnoticed for the most part because there are no drugs that can respond to it and because many physicians don’t even recognize that it exists. It does. All you have to do is talk to the thousands of people who have come through my front door exhausted and desperate and leave feeling renewed and refreshed to realize this is a very genuine problem.

You can schedule these fifteen minute screenings at the booth but be warned, the spots fill up VERY quickly!
Furthermore, we will be highlighting our homeopathic products which are unique in the industry. What makes them so valuable is that they are made using a “spagyric” method that literally makes them much more potent and effective in responding to symptoms such as allergies, stress, inflammation, etc.
Most of all, I am excited about meeting you and answering all of your questions about how you can make yourself into the healthy, vibrant person you were meant to be. I have 39 years of experience in chiropractic, natural health, nutrition and psychotherapy which has given me the unique ability to really hear what people are struggling with. 2012 Navel Expo Reflections

The Navel Expo which was this last Sunday gave me the opportunity to talk about two important health topics.  The first of which was weight loss and how hormones, not calories control what happens with being able to control your weight and body fat.  The second topic was on adrenal exhaustion which I believe is an unrecognized epidemic in our country.

In my 35 years in practice I have witnessed stress levels in people continually rise up above what would be considered “normal” stress into areas where it significantly effects our health.  Just think about hurricane Sandy and the devastating affects it has had on people’s lives in the TriState area and you see how much stress we are under. Reflections on NAVEL Health Expo May 20, 2012

Reflections on NAVEL Health Expo May 20, 2012

NavelExpoThe Navel Health Expo, Long Island’s largest alternative health gathering, gives many people the opportunity to hear some very different and enlightening approaches to health. This Expo reaffirmed my impression that there are many people in the metropolitan area as I am sure there are all over the United States, that are truly questing for alternatives to traditional medicine to help them get and stay healthier.

I had the opportunity to listen to people ask very real and detailed questions pertaining to the symptoms they are experiencing…being tired, having increasing pain in their bodies, not being able to sleep, having more difficult menstrual periods, not being to lose weight and keep it off to name just a few. One common theme seemed to shine through, people are tired of being told that it’s all in their heads and that all they need is to take this drug and everything will be alright.

When I discussed in my lecture on adrenal fatigue, why it is making us tired, fat and hungry and the need to look at our lifestyles, as well as how we could alter them to make a lasting change, I could see heads shaking up and down in the audience. People are beginning to recognize that the solution is not just taking another drug, or for that matter just another nutritional supplement. The issues that confront us go to the very root of how we are leading our lives: when do we go to sleep, how many hours do we sleep, how much exercise and is it the right kind to maximize our bodies lean muscle mass, do we drink enough water and is that water getting into our cells? All of these questions and more were addressed in my two lectures on adrenal fatigue and the other on the relationship of hormones and sustainable weight loss.

We got a lot of great feedback on having the Avatar, bioenergetic machine at the expo. The fifteen minute sessions afforded people the opportunity to ask questions regarding the most pressing concerns about their health and what some possible responses would be. This test which is offered at my office can explore what your body is saying behind the scene, before symptoms even arise and just like peeling the layers from an onion each layer reveals more information which can be used to chart a course towards infinite wellness. All of this is done just by measuring acupuncture points on the body in a completely non-invasive way.

I would like to invite each and everyone of you who reads this to ask yourself what are you doing to promote your own wellness? If the answer comes back, not much or a little perhaps its time to take some action steps to move you in another direction…toward your own personal infinite wellness. I will be here to support you in each and every way that I can!

Dr D’Brant’s Healthiest Meal on Long Island: Quetzalcoatl

Dr D’Brant’s Healthiest Meal on Long Island: Quetzalcoatl

Healthiest Meal on Long Island with D'BrantThe more we discover about the foods we consume, the more important eating organic becomes. Take, for example, the chemical  pesticide DDT; though it hasn’t been used to treat crops for 30-40 years, Dr. D’Brant explains that there is still “not a piece of beef” that isn’t contaminated with it today. Strong chemicals like DDT remain in the ground for centuries, making its way to cows by way of the grass they are given in conventional feeding methods, and eventually into our systems. Here’s a scary fact: According to Dr. D’Brant, “287 chemicals are found in the umbilical blood of the average newborn—217 of which are considered neurotoxic!” Not only are organic foods more nutritious, pure, and tasty, they are also free of harmful chemicals, as well as shelf-life enhancing irradiation and genetic modifications (nonGMO), of which the long-term health consequences have yet to be determined.

Gonzalez is working to have organic items on the menu by the summer. He says, “The plan is, if we can, to have 100% organic from the oil to the chicken.” Due to expense, he will start by offering an organic menu two to three days a week, then, gauging the customer response, will take it from there. He will be purchasing all food from local organic farms on Long Island. To help promote a better understanding of this important shift in ingredients, Dr. D’Brant has provided a list of benefits of eating organically that will be posted in the restaurant and provided to patrons.

Gonzalez gained a taste for authentic Mexican cuisine at a young age. His father, a mechanical engineer, would travel across Mexico to design and build machines in sugar factories, where the workers would show him the best foods in town. When Gonzalez would visit his father as a teenager, he recalls tasting what he describes as some of the greatest foods in Mexico and listening in on conversations where the local women would reveal recipes and kitchen secrets. “I never thought that I would become a chef, but I learned a lot about cuisine,” he remembers, “and like my father, I like to cook.” Gonzalez’s experience with Mexican food in America would prove to be a pivotal revelation. “When I came to the United States, you can imagine my disappointment when I went to Mexican restaurants. That is the reason I opened my own.”

With a Mesoamerican temple-like feel, Quetzalcoatl’s dining room gives off a sense of culture. “You’ll see we don’t have sombreros and things like that,” Gonzalez notes. “It is deeper in our roots; it is more native than most restaurants.” Just as in the atmosphere, the menu is a direct translation of the heart of Mexico, a civilization so entwined with food, that the two are almost one in the same. “Food is the main thing for us in our culture,” says Gonzalez, “the ingredients…the preparation…the time we spend on that.” Gonzalez speaks of Mexican cuisine with passion and bottomless understanding. He enthusiastically shares his knowledge, all the while stressing the influence of history on modern Mexican fare. The healthful ingredients, natural cooking methods, and freshness encompassed on the Quetzalcoatl menu are all a reflection of Mexico’s storied past.

Cleanse Your Body of Toxins and Take Control of Your Health

Cleanse Your Body of Toxins and Take Control of Your Health

With Gary D’Brant, DC, ND, LCSW

When it comes to protecting the environment, we know it starts with decreasing the harmful substances that contaminate the land, water, and air. Smelly and dirty, unhealthy and dangerous, toxic pollution is the last thing we want to see piling up on our front lawns.Yet that is exactly the type of waste that is building up in our bodies on a daily basis.

Now, more than ever before, people are bombarded with such an excess of toxins that our overall health is suffering tremendously. Processed foods, high levels of caffeine and alcohol consumption, lack of exercise and energy, overuse of medications, and stress are just some of the factors contributing to this toxic overload, and the results can be life threatening.
